There are things we talk about a lot in the Zouk world (like BachaZouk👀) And then there are the things we feel but rarely talk about, like the crushes, intimacy, boundaries.
This is Zouk & Intimacy, a new conversation series by Zoukology exploring the emotional, relational, and human experiences that exist underneath the dance.

    Meet Sarah & Sindi

Sarah Flores is an entrepreneur, licensed healthcare professional, DJ, dancer, and love, intimacy, and hormone coach. After more than 15 years working in emergency medicine, and nearly two decades studying psychology, meditation, and medicine, Sarah experienced burnout and found her way back to herself through dance.

She now works with high-achieving women around love, intimacy, relationships, and the often-overlooked connection between what happens inside our bodies and how we experience our lives.

Dance has been one of the places where Sarah has experienced healing, self-discovery, and transformation.

Sindi is a professional dancer, instructor, and community builder who has been dancing for 19 years and teaching for around 10. Her journey has moved through tango, salsa, bachata, Brazilian Zouk, and more recently lambada.

Through years of teaching, organizing events, festivals, and creating dance communities, she has become increasingly interested in everything that happens around the dance: the emotions, the relationships, the identity, the vulnerability, and the stories we bring with us onto the dancefloor.

Sarah and Sindi met through the 100-hour ZoukMX training, and their friendship and connection continued through festivals, and events, and the wider Zouk community.

So… what happens when we observe the dynamics around the dance closer?

What if we stopped talking about Zouk only as a beautiful art form and started looking at it as a mirror?
Why can a dance sometimes feel more intimate than a date?
Why can certain people become attached to the feeling of being seen, touched, and connected through dance?

These kind of questions don't have simple answers, that's why we want to explore it.

Our first conversation: Why does Zouk feel like falling in love?

In our first episode, we explore one of the most fascinating, and sometimes confusing, experiences in the Zouk world:

Why can dancing with someone feel so much like falling in love?

We talk about touch, presence, chemistry, the nervous system, attraction, connection, and what happens inside the body when two people enter that shared space.

When we don't understand what is happening inside us, it can be very easy to confuse connection with compatibility, chemistry with attraction, or intimacy with love. And in a community where people are constantly touching, moving, trusting, traveling, learning, and sharing vulnerable experiences together, those distinctions can become surprisingly important.

And this is only the beginning.

In the next episode, we're turning the mirror inward:

How does Zouk change the way we see ourselves?

We'll see you on the other side😉
